9 Latest Research Studies About Human Brain

The human brain has the same general structure as the brains of other mammals, but is larger than any other in relation to body size. The human brain is almost twice as large as the brain of the bottle-nose dolphin, and three times as large as the brain of a chimpanzee. Much of the expansion comes from the part of the brain called the cerebral cortex, especially the frontal lobes, which are associated with executive functions such as self-control, planning, reasoning, and abstract thought. The portion of the cerebral cortex devoted to vision is also greatly enlarged in humans.

Here we are presenting 9 different studies carried out about human brain at different parts of world which might give you a few insights of human brain.

Postpartum Depression Affects 1 In 7 Mothers

It's well documented that some women suffer depression after having a baby. But it's less well-known just how many do.

by PATTI NEIGHMOND

The largest study to date shows that as many as 1 in every 7 women suffers postpartum depression. And the study, published in the journal JAMA Psychiatry, finds that among women followed for a year after delivery, some 22 percent had been depressed.

The study also recommends that all pregnant women and new mothers be screened for depression.

Ten-thousand women who delivered infants at one obstetrical hospital in Pittsburgh were asked to take part in a short telephone interview four to six weeks after they had their babies.

"We asked them whether they had been able to laugh and see the funny side of things," says University of Pittsburgh psychiatrist Dorothy Sit, who was one of the study investigators. Sit says researchers also asked about the new mothers' "ability to look forward with enjoyment to things, whether or not they're blaming themselves necessarily when things go wrong, feeling anxious or worried for no good reason, being scared or panicky for no good reason."

Sperm are healthier in winter and early spring

While it’s not clear why sperm are healthier in the winter, researchers theorize that semen is affected by warm temperatures, daylight exposure, and hormone variations.

If you’re trying to have a baby, a new study suggests that it’s best to try in winter and early spring, when men have healthier sperm.

Israeli scientists studied samples from more than 6,000 men who were being treated for infertility between January 2006 and July 2009.

According to the Daily Mail, researchers found sperm in greater numbers, with faster swimming speeds, and fewer abnormalities, in semen made during the winter -- which could account for the boom in childbirths in autumn. The sperm declined steadily in quality from spring onwards, the report says.

While it’s not clear why sperm are healthier in the winter, researchers theorize that semen is affected by warm temperatures, daylight exposure, and hormone variations.

What not to use in the bedroom

A new study finds that women who use petroleum jelly such as Vaseline vaginally can put themselves at risk for a common infection called bacterial vaginosis.

Prior studies have already linked douching with a host of ill effects, including bacterial vaginosis, but not much research has been done on how petroleum jelly affects female sexual organs.

Lead researcher Dr. Joelle Brown of the University of California, San Francisco, and her colleagues recruited 141 women in the study, with half of the women saying they had used some type of sexual lubricant, petroleum jelly, or baby oil vaginally in the past month.

When the researchers tested the women for infections, they found that those who'd used petroleum jelly in the past month were more than twice as likely as non-users to have bacterial vaginosis.

While the illness doesn’t cause long-term problems, it can be uncomfortable, and worse puts a woman at greater risk of sexually transmitted diseases.

Your best bet: reach for water soluble products designed specifically as a vaginal lubricant, which are both safer and more cosmetically pleasing.

Chemotherapy backfires - causes healthy cells to feed growth of cancer tumors

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Editor of NaturalNews.com

(NaturalNews) Ever since chemotherapy was introduced into the practice of western medicine, doctors and oncologists have been trying to answer this nagging question: Why does chemotherapy seem to work at first, but then cancer tumors cells grow back even more aggressively while the body becomes resistant to chemotherapy?

It turns out that chemotherapy damages healthy cells, causing them to secrete a protein that accelerates the growth of cancer tumors. (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/chemotherapy-backfire-boost-cancer-growth-st...)

This protein, dubbed "WNT16B," is taken up by nearby cancer cells, causing them to "grow, invade, and importantly, resist subsequent therapy," said Peter Nelson of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. He's the co-author of the study that documented this phenomenon, published in Nature Medicine.

Type 2 Diabetes Information - the most common form of diabetes in adults

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes in adults.
Until a few years ago, type 2 diabetes was rare in children, but it is becoming more common, especially for overweight teens.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in three American children born after 2000 will develop type 2 diabetes in his or her lifetime.

Type 2 diabetes affects the way the body is able to use sugar (glucose) for energy.
  • The body turns the carbohydrates in food into glucose, the basic fuel for the body’s cells.
  • The pancreas makes insulin, a hormone that moves glucose from the blood to the cells.
  • In type 2 diabetes, the body’s cells resist the effects of insulin, and blood glucose levels rise.
  • Over time, glucose reaches dangerously high levels in the blood, which is called hyperglycemia.
  • Hyperglycemia can lead to health problems like heart disease, blindness, and kidney failure.
Risk Factors Associated with Type 2 Diabetes
It is recommended that students displaying or possibly experiencing the risk factors and warning signs associated with type 2 diabetes be screened (tested) for the disease.

Drug Crazed - USA

When a man in Miami chewed off a homeless man's face last year a little-known drug was blamed. This report investigates how 'bath salts' are wreaking havoc across the USA as the number of addicts grows.

"It's robbed him of a life. It's taken his soul." Tiffany Russell watches footage of her 24-year-old son Skyler, a bath salts addict. Unable to help her son herself, Tiffany feels the Government have failed him by pondering for too long over what to do about the drug.

"When they finally did something, it's too late for the thousands who have been affected." But it's a battle that's far more complex, explains Drug Enforcement officer Jim Burns. "New York State passed a bath salts law a year ago. No sooner had they  passed it, some enterprising chemist somewhere tweaked the chemical formula.

Now it's no longer the substance that was banned in the state law. So we're back to square one."

What Is Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) and is it treatable?

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes muscle pain and fatigue (feeling tired). People with fibromyalgia have “tender points” on the body. Tender points are specific places on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms, and legs. These points hurt when pressure is put on them.

Fibromyalgia is the most common musculoskeletal condition after osteoarthritis. Still, it is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood. Its characteristics include widespread muscle and joint pain and fatigue as well as other symptoms. Fibromyalgia can lead to depression and social isolation.

This overview of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) covers symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, and the impact fibromyalgia has on lives. The impact comes from the tremendous physical and psychological strains that come with FMS. Those strains can lead to loss of work hours, reduced income, and even job loss.

Analysis: Antibiotic apocalypse - is the end nigh?

A terrible future could be on the horizon, a future which rips one of the greatest tools of medicine out of the hands of doctors.

A simple cut to your finger could leave you fighting for your life. Luck will play a bigger role in your future than any doctor could.

The most basic operations - getting an appendix removed or a hip replacement - could become deadly.
Cancer treatments and organ transplants could kill you. Childbirth could once again become a deadly moment in a woman's life.

It's a future without antibiotics.

Even for sperm, there is a season: study

Autumn is the time of year most associated with bumper crops of new babies, and according to an Israeli study there may be a scientific reason for it: human sperm are generally at their healthiest in winter and early spring.

Based on samples from more than 6 000 men treated for infertility, researchers writing in American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology found sperm in greater numbers, with faster swimming speeds and fewer abnormalities in semen made during the winter, with a steady decline in quality from spring onward.

“The winter and spring semen patterns are compatible with increased fecundability and may be a plausible explanation of the peak number of deliveries during the fall,” wrote lead researcher Eliahu Levitas from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva.

If there is a seasonal pattern, they said, that knowledge may “be of paramount importance, especially in couples with male-related infertility struggling with unsuccessful and prolonged fertility treatments.”

Aspartame - fears of cancer and premature birth link

A leading British expert, Professor Millstone, has called for an investigation into serious health concerns over the artificial sweetener aspartame – after the EU food watchdog insisted it was safe.

The European Food Safety Authority has published a draft scientific opinion effectively rubbishing more than 20 studies which have identified potential problems with the sweetener, ranging from premature births  to cancer.

The authority’s view will be welcomed by manufacturers who use aspartame and similar sweeteners in fizzy drinks such as Diet Coke, and diet foods consumed by millions of people every day.

Professor Millstone suggested that the EFSA panel that carried out the assessment was dominated by experts linked to manufacturers or regulators that have previously supported aspartame.

‘Of the 17 members of the EFSA panel, seven have direct commercial conflicts of interest, and another five have institutional conflicts of interest, for example, because their employers have already announced that aspartame is safe’ he said.

Three minutes a week High Intensive Training (HIT) can change your life

London - So far, I have spent 43 years on this planet. But I don’t think my heart has ever beaten faster than it is now. I’m on a bike at the gym. My face is red, my body is limp, my heart feels like it is making an escape attempt.

Yet all I’ve done is cycle for 30 seconds.

What makes my cycling unusual - and garners strange glances from the woman on the treadmill behind me - is the intensity of my exercise. I’ve put every ounce of my being into going as fast as I possibly can. I am thrashing at the pedals so hard that the bike is rattling like a pneumatic drill. I’m pleased the machine is nailed to the floor.

I’m here to check out one of the most fascinating areas of health research.

Current advice from the NHS suggests that in order to stay healthy, adults should take either 150 minutes - that’s two-and-a-half hours - of “moderate” exercise a week, or 75 minutes of “vigorous” exercise.

But a growing number of studies - from proper scientists, not wacky weirdos - suggest that the benefits of exercise could be achieved in much less time if you go in for very short bursts of very high-intensity exercise.

How short? Well, just one minute, three times a week. Yes, you read that correctly. Three minutes a week. Those three minutes can be split into six bursts of 30 seconds over the week, or nine bursts of 20 seconds. But they must be totally full-on.

Scientists Prove DNA Can Be Reprogrammed by Words and Frequencies

We came across this article today and thought that it would be a great read for our viewers. It’s awesome information showing the true nature of our reality and how science is changing everyday, opening up to the possibilities of this reality.

“Scientist Prove DNA Can Be Reprogrammed by Words and Frequencies"

By Grazyna Fosar and Franz Bludorf

THE HUMAN DNA IS A BIOLOGICAL INTERNET and superior in many aspects to the artificial one. Russian scientific research directly or indirectly explains phenomena such as clairvoyance, intuition, spontaneous and remote acts of healing, self healing, affirmation techniques, unusual light/auras around people (namely spiritual masters), mind’s influence on weather patterns and much more. In addition, there is evidence for a whole new type of medicine in which DNA can be influenced and reprogrammed by words and frequencies WITHOUT cutting out and replacing single genes.

Understanding mosquitoes

In Africa, 20 per cent of the children get 80 per cent of the bites from malarial mosquitoes, and an understanding of this could be central to controlling the deadly disease.

Researchers have developed a mathematical model that describes the complex relationship between the proportion of people who are infected with Plasmodium falciparum, the parasite that causes malaria, and the rate at which people are bitten by the mosquitoes that carry it.

Nicotine can boost blood vessel growth

Nicotine may not be all bad: A study found it stimulated new blood vessel growth in mice by actively signaling their bone marrow to release vessel-forming adult stem cells.

The finding might translate to the use someday of nicotine as a means of helping wound healing and other conditions where new blood vessel growth is key, experts say. It also gives insight into unwanted vessel growth, such as that which happens during tumor formation.

The findings, based on animal and test-tube research, are reported in the Dec. 19 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Cooke's team's prior research had already demonstrated nicotine's ability to promote blood vessel growth, known as the "angiogenic effect." In this new study, they set out to uncover the mechanism driving this process.

Nicotine improves cognitive processes including learning and memory

"It is known that nicotine improves cognitive processes including learning and memory, but this is the first time that an identified nerve cell population is linked to the effects of nicotine", says Professor Klas Kullander at Uppsala University.

Humans think, learn and memorize with the help of nerve cells sending signals between each other. Some nerve cells send signals far away to other areas of the brain, while other neurons send signals within the same area. Local nerve circuits in the hippocampus process impressions and turn some of them into memories. But how does this work? And how can nicotine improve this mechanism?

The new research study literally sheds new light on this intriguing mechanism.

"We have used a new technology called optogenetics, in which light is used to stimulate selected nerve cells. We were amazed when we discovered that light activation of the gatekeeper cells alters the flow of information in the hippocampus in the same way as nicotine does", explains co-author Richardson Leão.

The More Mammograms You Get The More Harm It Does

Written By: Sayer Ji

Mammograms are in the news again, and it doesn't look good for those who continue to advocate using them to "detect cancer early" in asymptomatic populations. The science increasingly runs directly counter to the screening guidelines produced by both governmental and non-governmental health organizations claiming to be advocates for women's health.

Remember that only last November, the New England Journal of Medicine published a shocking analysis of the past 30 years of breast screening in the US, finding that 1.3 million women were over-diagnosed and over-treated for breast cancer – euphemisms for misdiagnosed and mistreated.

This finding, released cunningly from scientific embargo to the media on the eve of Thanksgiving, was so devastating in its implications that many either did not understand its meaning, or could not bear to accept the truth that the quarter of a century clarion call of breast cancer awareness month – get your annual mammogram or lose your life! – caused more unnecessary suffering, pain and harm to women than it is possible to calculate. The only calculable dimension of this world-historical failure is the billions of dollars that were made in the process of converting healthy, asymptomatic women into "patients", and if fortunate enough to make it through treatment, "survivors".

Now, a new study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, finds that those women who follow the American Cancer Society's guidelines for the early detection of breast cancer, namely, annual screening for women 40 or older, are not only receiving no additional protection against aggressive breast cancer, but are experiencing greater harm through increased rates of false positives and unnecessary biopsies.

Diet Soda May Be the More Dangerous Alcohol Mixer

By SAMIR VERMANI, M.D., ABC News Medical Unit

Cutting calories with diet soda may seem like a good idea -- as long as it's not at a bar.

A new study released in the journal Alcoholism suggests that cutting alcoholic drinks with diet soda makes them more potent than using their full-calorie counterparts. Specifically, researchers found that mixing alcohol with diet (sugar-free) soft drinks resulted in a higher breath alcohol content than mixing alcohol with a regular (sugar-sweetened) soft drink.

"The results were surprising," said Cecile A. Marczinski, assistant professor in the department of psychological science at Northern Kentucky University, and one of the lead investigators of the study.

Researchers served one of three beverages: vodka added to a diet drink, vodka added to a regular drink or a regular soft drink with a vodka scent added so that participants would believe it was an alcoholic beverage. They then sat back while the subjects enjoyed their cocktails.

Couch potatoes have lower sperm counts: study

Men who watch television for 20 hours per week have almost half the sperm count of those who watch very little television or none at all, according to a study published on Tuesday.

US researchers recruited 189 young men aged between 18 to 22, questioned them about their exercise, diet and TV habits and asked them to provide a sperm sample.

Men in the top quarter of TV-watchers, those who watched for 20 hours or more, had a 44% lower sperm count than those who watched least, meaning they said they watched "none or almost none."

Another big factor was exercise, according to the study, published online in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

Men who exercised for 15 or more hours weekly at a "moderate to vigorous" rate had a 73% higher sperm count than those who exercised less than five hours per week.

None of the sperm levels was so low that the man would have been unable to father a child.

Research shows cayenne pepper jalapenos habaneros and other chilli peppers improve heart health

Capsaicinoids found in cayenne pepper, jalapenos, habaneros and other chilli peppers already have an established treatment role in creams to address joint and arthritis pain. They also promote fat burning, increase metabolism and even kill cancer cells. Scientists have now reported the latest evidence that chili peppers are a heart-healthy food with potential to protect against the No. 1 cause of death in the developed world.

The report was part of the 243rd National Meeting and Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS), being held in San Diego the week of March 26.

Past research suggested that spicing food with chillies can lower blood pressure in people with that condition, reduce blood cholesterol and ease the tendency for dangerous blood clots to form.

Researchers in Korea recently published evidence that suggests the mechanisms behind why capsaicin may aid weight loss.

Anthropological Research Reveals Human Dietary Requirements for Optimal Health

H. Leon Abrams, Jr., MA, EDS
Associate Professor Emeritus of Anthropology, ECJC,
University System of Georgia, Swainsboro, Georgia.
Journal of Applied Nutrition, 1982, 16:1:38-45

Many claims are set forth stating what the “natural” diet of humans is or should be, but in order to ascertain what constitutes the basic dietary requirements for optimal health, the problem must be approached from an anthropological perspective which encompasses the total dietary evolution and history of mankind, a scrutinization and syntheses of human diets from the earliest times to the present, the diets of mankind’s nearest relatives, the primates, and cross-cultural dietary comparisons of primitive and modern societies.

There are one hundred and ninety-two living higher species of primates in addition to humans. (30) Until recently, it was taken for granted that all monkeys and apes were vegetarians, but ethological studies (1, 2, 12) revealed that all primates, in their natural habitat, also eat small animals. The National Zoo in Washington attempted to breed the Amazon Golden Marmoset monkey in captivity, but failed until animal protein was added to their diet. (5) It had been erroneously assumed that they were complete vegetarians, but apparently they must have some animal protein in order to be fertile. With the addition of animal protein, they reproduce rapidly in captivity. (5)

Death By Doctor vs. Death By Firearms

In 2010, there were 14,043 homicides in the United States. This was 15th leading cause of death according to the CDC mortality statistics and a Wall Street Journal review for causes of death. However, when one isolates the number of deaths by firearms, the number of deaths caused by guns drops to 9,601.  The total number of medically-caused deaths in the US very year is 225,000. An American has a 23 times greater chance of being killed by their doctor than by a firearm!

Perhaps we should be looking at the Bovine Growth Hormones (cancer causing) put into cattle which makes its way into the human population by way of meat consumption. We ingest these dangerous substances and literally, the entire country is on a secondary form of steroids. Maybe the country should question the wisdom of taking the flu vaccine. There is not one shred of scientific evidence which supports the use of the vaccine which would serve to justify the hundreds of thousands adverse reactions. The use of the flu vaccine defies conventional wisdom. How does one make up a vaccine a year before the “new” strain appears. Is this medicine by crystal ball? And where is the supportive data? With this kind of voodoo science, no wonder death by doctor is the third leading cause of death in the United States.

Alex Jones addresses one of the darkest modes of power the globalists have used to control the population-- food. The adulteration of the planet's staple crops, genetically-altered species and intentionally-altered water, food and air all amount to a Eugenics operation to weaken the masses and achieve full spectrum domination.

People the world over, but especially in the United States are under chemical attack. Deadly and dangerous toxins ranging from Aspartame to Fluoride, GMO, Mercury-tainting, pesticides, cross-species chimeras, plastic compounds in chicken, high fructose corn syrup, cloned meat, rBGH and new aggressive GM species of salmon have all entered into our diets and environments-- whether we want it or not.

Many of these substances knowingly cause or are linked with sterility, low birth weight, miscarriages, smaller or deformed offspring, as well as organ failure, cancer, brain tumors and Death itself, what you DON'T know about on your grocery shelves can hurt you. Further, Alex demonstrates that a pattern of buried studies, fraudulent statistics and a will reduce global population all point to the deliberate criminal poisoning of the food and water supply.

IMPORTANT WARNING - The Vaccine Hoax is Over - Media Pushes BRAIN Eating Vaccine

THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!!!

Governments and the Medical Establishment have been occupying the public's minds with tobacco regulations, scaring people with horror stories about tobacco, to steer the public away from much worse dangers, real true dangers like vaccines, poisonous, cancer-causing additives to food, water and household consumables.

Tobacco smoking is NOTHING COMPARED to what your government and the medical establishment is doing to you and your children. WAKE UP!

The establishment media and the scientific dictatorship are promoting brain-eating vaccines that virtually lobotomize people and rewire their brains into a state of subservient compliance so that their natural instinct to get angry and rebel against the tyranny being imposed upon them is neutered and sterilized.

"Academics say they are close to developing the first vaccine for stress -- a single jab that would help us relax without slowing down," reports the Daily Mail.

Do you ever stop to hear the music?

"A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.
